Fast and accurate typing saves time in every computer job. With 15–20 minutes of daily practice, most beginners see a big improvement in one month.
Week 1: Learn the home row
Place your fingers on A S D F and J K L ; and learn which finger presses each key. Go slowly and do not look at the keyboard.
Week 2: Accuracy first
Use a free online typing tutor. Aim for correct typing, not speed. Speed comes later.
Week 3: Real words and sentences
Type short paragraphs from a book or news article. Keep a steady rhythm.
Week 4: Measure and improve
Take a typing test every two days and note your words per minute. Focus on the keys where you make mistakes.
Good posture helps too: sit straight, keep your wrists relaxed and the screen at eye level.
